PA Somber and Sobering Fact
Did you know that the Battle of Gettysburg, with 165,000 men engaged, is the largest battle ever fought in the Western Hemisphere? After three days of fighting, July 1-3 1863, the Union Army of the Potomac was victorious. The next day the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia retreated to Maryland carrying along a 17 mile long wagon train of wounded.
